Wow, what an amazing General Conference weekend we had. I felt the Spirit so strongly during each session testify to me that the speakers were truly inspired in the messages they gave and that we really are led in this church by living prophets and apostles of the living God.
1. It was a little bittersweet not being on Temple Square, and my heart fluttered a bit every time they showed the outside of the Temple or the Conference Center, but it was such a blessing to get to see each session live. I think one of my favorite messages was that of President Nelson when he spoke about the importance of the name of Jesus Christ's church. This is not Mormon's church, nor is it the LDS church, but it truly is the Church of Jesus Christ - the only true and living church on earth today, and it's important that we call it by the name given by the Savior Himself.
2. We did a lot of service this week for a family that sadly found out that they were being evicted. They aren't all members of the church, and the one member isn't active, but it really felt good to be able to serve this family and help them however we could. Sister Gherkins and I scrubbed that place, it was kind of a hot mess. I was reminded of the scripture in the Book of Mormon given by King Benjamin when he says that when we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God.
3. The work progresses! I'm grateful for a living prophet of God and for the inspiration we were able to receive from conference so that we can better help the people in this area hear and accept the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ truly is our Savior, and that it's because of the Father's love for His children that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into this world to do something that we could never do for our self - pay the price of sin and offer us mercy and forgiveness from sin and triumph over death.
